U.S. diplomatic expulsion from Russia

Russia has expelled US Deputy Ambassador to Moscow Bert Gorman. Moscow has not yet commented on the reasons behind the expulsion of the US diplomat.

This information was given to the media quoting the US embassy on Thursday.

Bert Gorman, acting deputy ambassador, has been asked to leave Russia, the report said.

Gorman was working in Russia as a US diplomat specializing in security. He has previously served as Deputy Assistant Secretary and Assistant Director of the Threat Investigations and Analysis (TIA) at the Bureau of Diplomatic Security.

He has also served as a security official in several US diplomatic missions around the world, including in Russia, Iraq, Jordan, China, Kazakhstan and Armenia.

The Russian government has taken steps to expel US diplomats amid growing tensions between the United States and its NATO allies over a military rally on the Ukrainian border.
